Dear Communications,

This is a letter from your intranet. It is a letter of appreciation because I more than anyone know the importance of your job in an organization. I am your voice to the people, so how you leverage me should be one of a kind.

Every day I have the privilege of seeing employees rewarded. That I am a part of giving back thrills me. My top priority is to make the employees happier and more productive. My ultimate goal is to be so helpful they can’t live without me.

I like to share all of the hard work that goes into building our company culture, and what I really cannot emphasize enough is how valuable it is to see our top-dog, Mr. James Blanchard, leading the way. His contributions and dedication to engaging and interacting with employees through the social networking tools we have makes all of the difference.

I remember back when I was just a little kid starting out, when you and I had to work hard at growing up to be strong and successful. It took a while for the employees to get used to me. I was the new kid on the block, but when Mr. Blanchard and the other executives became involved we really started to fly. I noticed a difference, albeit still a work in progress, where employees started to read and participate more. I was able to provide a platform of change for the company. One of my proudest moments and I have you to thank.

When I think about the years and investment in my growth, it is a true achievement to think of how far we have come. Just the other day we had our highest traffic ever to the site and I saw a wall post where the new girl on reception asked about how she could improve the waiting room where our customers end up spending considerable time. She had 28 replies with some very creative ideas on providing a more welcoming environment that helps us to be unique in the eyes of our customers. How cool is that? I’m guessing not all of the ideas will be implemented at this very moment, but they are now captured for future reference and review.

I like serving up valuable data for our employees, and helping them accomplish tasks. What is that common saying? Communication is key! Although I have more than just you as my boss, I think the symmetry between the Communications Department and the intranet is the most important. I see it as our job to build a bridge: through communication, promoting our culture, teamwork, blogging, collaborating, educating and supporting our employees. Without them where would we be?

Ok the love has been shared. Thanks for listening and I look forward to a long-lasting and rewarding partnership with you.
